When Shall We Marry

Their beloved Tata’s dream prompts Ruth to travel home to see her. She finds her raped and murdered. Joseph also flees university following a military coup in Jeway. They inter her peacefully.



But ethnic differences usher in destruction and death. Joseph is butchered and left for dead. Ruth is abducted, but miraculously escapes. Her former school Principal helps her secure a sponsored study in Canada to complete her degree in Medicine.



Believing that her fiancé is dead, she sets out to study hard. But she is pregnant! Nevertheless, she successfully completes her studies and gets employed in a Toronto hospital.



What she did not know is that Joseph did not die. Her Mother and her sister ensured that he lived for her.



Friends help Joseph complete his degree in medicine. He is employed in a Mwambao hospital. He publishes poems mourning Ruth’s loss. The poems, the mystic Tata’s persistent dreams and her daughter’s demands, help them reunite.
