Publisher Description

A dramatic and terrifying memoir of a ‘catfish’ scenario - when a woman meets a man online but nothing is what it seems.

25-year-old Megan Henley put her five-year-old daughter to bed one evening and switched on her laptop. A Facebook ‘friend request’ seemed to be genuine. There were a few common friends and very similar interests, so Megan accepted.

With that one simple act, she changed her life forever. In her words: ‘looking back on it, it was as if I had opened my front door to a stranger, as if I had thrown away every precaution I’d ever put in place, as if I had freely given access to my whole world – all because of some naïve belief that it was ‘just’ a friend request on a social media site.’ Megan is tricked into a relationship, paranoia, and ultimately betrayal by the man she loved and trusted but nothing is as it seems.

Unbelievable!

An unbelievably intense, dark and cautionary tale of love in the modern age. This book truly gives an insight into the manipulation and control a 'catfish' can have, both online and in reality, leaving the reader as to no doubt that there truly is evil in this world and it walks amongst us... Most chillingly of all, Megan Henley's brave and beautiful prose proves that every single one of us could be a victim, if only we were unfortunate enough to have the perfect predator look our way.

I couldn't put this down, 5 stars from me

What a story!!

I read this book in less than 24 hours, I was THAT gripped to what would happen next. This could have happened to anyone and the fact that Meghan survived is down to her strength. However I doubt I would have been so compassionate when Vic displayed evidence of mental illness early in the relationship and would have ran for the hills at the thought of spending my life supporting such a troubled individual. Well done for ditching Colin too, he was too needy to support you after your ordeal with Vic. I wish you and the girls an amazing life!
