Publisher Description

"Who Can Save the Pond?" is a book written for children that invites them to look at conflict resolution and acceptance of those who are different in a peaceful and respectful manner. As the pond animals struggle for an answer, it is the youngest who ultimately shares a new perspective that leads to a peaceful solution. This is the first book of a series situated around the pond animals. Each book looks to open readers to moral, ethical and peaceful alternatives to various situations. In addition to demonstrating a way in which the group approaches and then solves the problem in a positive way, it also demonstrates that the holder of wisdom does not always come from the older and more logical members. In this story, Trinkle, the youngest pond animal, offers an alternative perspective completely contrary to those held by the rest of the members. But Starko, the wise old catfish sees the value in that point of view and honors her by affirming the new and peaceful plan. In the end, the way of peace does not produce winners and losers, but rather serves to build friendship and respect.
