Why Evolution is Not True: Because Natural Selection Does Not Exist

Publisher Description

The current scientific consensus champions evolution by natural selection as an indisputable fact. Resultantly, many tell us where the facts lead, but when actually examining the alleged evidence, what one unearths is quite shocking—that from the very beginning, the theory of evolution was built on an unsteady foundation and the facts that presumably support it are rare, isolated, and unimpressive. Why Evolution is Not True is a succinct and accessible summary of how the facts that supposedly support the modern theory of evolution are dishonestly misinterpreted and why the evidence available demands a fresh verdict: that evolution is not true because natural selection does not exist.

In this bold and revolutionary book, Dr. C. H. Elijah Sadaphal challenges the scientific status quo, dispels common misunderstandings about evolution, and confirms the truth, which clearly refutes this speculative process of extraordinary change. By synthesizing Darwin’s original postulation in On the Origin of Species with molecular biology, modern genetics, medicine, and paleontology, Dr. Sadaphal provides seven devastating reasons why natural selection is not real and is merely a philosophical conjecture. Why Evolution is Not True does not aim to prove any alternative ideas; rather, by using indisputable and overwhelming evidence, it sets out to demonstrate that evolution by natural selection is neither plausible nor sufficient to explain the diversity of species.

Theist drivel

Interestingly, the one thing the author neglects to mention in the beginning is that he is a reverend and a fundamentalist Christian. Therefore we have an automatic agenda that immediately undermines the book. We know we’re going to get a “god did it” point of view.

There are hints to his bias such as mentioning the word “godless” but he doesn’t outright state his religious belief.

However, what he does do is proudly trumpet the fact that he’s a medical doctor. This seems to be a common trait with apologists. They do like to slip in their qualifications and you can bet that any letters before and after their names will always be present. I’m not disputing his medical qualification, but that doesn’t actually make him an expert in evolutionary biology. I think the inference is “I’m cleverer than you - therefore god.”

I am not an evolutionary biologist and therefore I can’t make an expert judgement on what he writes. However, what it seems to boil down to is a word salad with a bottom line of: “Microevolution exists because the evidence for change within species is just too convincing for us Christians to be able to plausibly deny it. However, we’re going to continue to deny macro evolution because if we accept it as scientific fact, it means that there really is no need for god and we’re not going to live for ever in heaven.” Very much like a child who resists any evidence that Santa doesn’t exist.

However, there is one section I can make comment on even though I’m not an expert. On page 71, the author talks about Professor Michael Behe’s theory on how natural selection cannot be true because some organisms and/or biological organs are “irreducibly complex”. That is, cannot function without all their parts being in place at once. This idea was thoroughly debunked by actual real life experts during the 2005 Kitzmiller v Dover Area School District trial. A veritable mountain of genuine scientific and peer reviewed books and articles disproving his assertion were presented in evidence. Funny how the author of this book just presents Behe’s assertion as truth but neglects to make any mention of the aforementioned trial. Oh well, I’m sure it just slipped his mind to mention it!

The whole books appears in my (admittedly non expert view) to be an attempt to undermine established science without actually suggesting any viable alternative theory apart from Yahweh.
What I would ask is - if what you say is true, it would completely overturn established science so where’s your Nobel prize?

I think I will go with the overwhelming opinion of most actual scientists who work in this field - that evolution by natural selection is a fact. For a three reasons really. Firstly, (as a non expert in this field), the only reasonable thing to do is to side with the majority of people who do actually know what they are talking about. Secondly, theists have an agenda. Theists start with the pre supposition that “god did it.” Therefore, with regard to science, anything they say is automatically suspect. This book tries to “grey out” the god did it angle - but it’s still there. Thirdly, with regard to matters of science, religion has a 100% unbroken record of being wrong. The sun revolves around the earth, disease is caused by sin and infestation by demons, lightning is the wrath of god etc etc. So I know which horse I’m betting on.
