‘The very definition of a page-turner’ Clare Mackintosh

Nothing has felt right since Elle rented out her house . . .

I’M IN YOUR HOUSE

There’s a new coldness. A shift in the atmosphere. The prickling feeling that someone is watching her every move from the shadows.

I’M IN YOUR HEAD

Maybe it’s all in Elle’s mind? She’s a writer – her imagination, after all, is her strength. And yet every threat seems personal. As if someone has discovered the secrets that keep her awake at night.

AND NOW I KNOW YOUR SECRET

As fear and paranoia close in, Elle’s own home becomes a prison. Someone is unlocking her past – and she’s given them the key…

Spine-tingling, chilling, and utterly compulsive, this is the thriller that EVERYONE is talking about right now –

‘Clever, tense, twisty’ C.L. Taylor

4.5*

I think this book is very well worth reading. While not quite being a perfect story, I definitely recommend it.
I found it satisfying but not perfect with several rather clunky red herrings, all of which I considered. Quite early on and through much of the book I decided I knew what was going on but I’d caught the wrong herring!

It might make a good tv drama, where you’re carried quickly through the plot without time to focus on any discrepancies or analyse the characters too closely. I thought that on the whole the more creepy parts were well written and could imagine that this could be really ramped up on film. The downside would be that the author’s very good quality prose would be lost and it’s that that helped to make the story so very readable.

I didn’t particularly like the main character, Elle, but that ultimately didn’t matter. I won’t say more about characters or plot as it might spoil others’ enjoyment.

It is a book I kept picking up whenever I had time to read a few more pages because I wanted to know the outcome.
