This nation was not settled by shiny, happy people.

It was settled through massacre. The frontier wars here were as murderous as they were in the United States/Canada or New Zealand. This nation in fact was largely founded on institutionalised racism with a keen sense and even a fondness for cruelty. Which has been its one great mainstay, in that many of its immigrants were those who it could possibly be described as somewhat intolerant of others. Whether they came here from the British Isles, Europe or even Asia. Basically we do like our immigrants to have strong un-altering dispositions…and especially of recent times money. And much of it if, at all possible.
Commonly expressed these days by the very culture of the place. The obsession we have with sport. It’s notorious and long held anti-art/intellectual tendencies. Its overall aggression. An obsession with the prisoner-convict social order more recently expressed by this nation’s national currency in the form of the ‘Nanny-State’. Particularly with regard to its treatment of asylum seekers and the dispossessed both home and away. A soft, semi-fascist snarling, mean-hearted dog is in reality this nations true and closest friend...alas.
