In Around the Edges — Metamorphosis: Junior Year, authors and photographers Pease and Garappolo use intimate photographs and compelling narrative text to document the adaptation of Betsy Franco’s young adult novel to the stage. This includes the James Franco documentary film as it was being shot to chronicle unfolding of Metamorphosis as a play. Around the Edges captures the creative and collaborative processes among the playwright, director, actors, crew, film documentarians, and Children’s Theatre leadership — often in their own words — as Franco’s contemporary story is shaped into a theatrical performance.
