Nyla was born and raised in the In-Between Realm as the princess of the Spiritum Bellatorum, and she's been betrothed from birth. She's generally regarded as a rebel for being the leader of the Spirit Warriors, but she secretly pines for a life she's chosen and not the one she's expected to live.

When her brother betrays their kind, Nyla makes it her duty to find and convince him to come home. With the help of the Promiscus Guardians, Nyla meets the resident comedian and self-proclaimed cowboy Guardian, Bernie. He's everything she wishes she could be, and his happy, easy-going nature intrigues her. But like Nyla, Bernie is keeping secrets about who he truly is.

What will happen when their barriers start to come down? Will they be able to overcome the countless obstacles ahead of them, or will their relationship be torn apart before they have a chance to find something deeper?
