Butch & Louie's Book of Poetry
Publisher Description
This is our new poetry book. It’s not intellectual poetry, award wining poetry, pedantic poetry or poetry for other poets. It’s for regular people.
Aristotle wrote the book, Poetics, which defined poetry as the form of real life art that utilizes rhythm, language, and harmony. He says it’s the use of harmony that separates poetry from other forms of writing. He likens poetry to verbal music. If you ever read one of Aristotle’s poems, you’ll wonder what music he was listening to.
Poetry generally adheres to one of a couple of hundred poetic forms. Those forms are sort of like the rules of verse. Since we basically don't follow rules, we didn't follow the poetry rules either. If we had, that would have been out of character for us, and we hate being out of character. We're Butch & Louie.
We've tried to create a memorable image in each poem using a few carefully chosen words, that we could spell. That's our poetic form. We hope you like Butch & Louie poetry. It's unlike anything you've read before.
