Publisher Description

Charlestown, a World Heritage Site seaport on the south

coast of Cornwall, England, made famous in the TV series Poldark,

has survived virtually undeveloped and

unchanged in appearance since 1789, when it was built by Charles

Rashleigh. For 200 years it imported coal, lime, barrel staves and

timber, exporting first tin and copper, then china clay. This book is

the only complete history of the port ever published, Charlestown being

owned entirely by one family until 1987.
