Spring sweeps into Johnson County and storm clouds gather on the horizon. Disgraced former sheriff Emmet Thomas keeps his silence as his final warning echoes through the heart of The Stables—a war is coming. Never counting himself as one of those hero cowboys from some cinema western, Deputy Scott Pickford finds himself surrounded by darkening skies, with his faithful bloodhound Rainy by his side, and Special Agent Hanna Roe pulling him into the thick of things. Hanna's never stayed in one place long, and she prefers to keep her relationships strictly casual.
