Publisher Description

You're in recovery. You're at a 12-step meeting. And you don't believe in a Judeo-Christian god. Now What?

You are not alone. Author and meditation teacher, Margaret Cram-Howie, was in exactly that position. Now a practicing Nichiren Shu Buddhist, Margaret has written a book recounting the beautiful parables of The Lotus Sutra and offering an alternative framework on which to hang the principles of addiction recovery.

The reader is guided through the Three Gates of Awareness, Introspection, and Dancing with Impermanence. The recovering addict will find insights, connections, and tools to try out on his or her own unique recovery journey.

About the Author

Margaret Cram-Howie is an active member of the Seattle Choeizan Enkyoji Buddhist Temple. Unusual, perhaps, given she lives in Canada, but totally possible in this on-line world. She is also a recovering alcoholic with over 32 years of continuous sobriety. That's 32 years of figuring out, one day at a time, what works and what doesn't work. Her recovery journey led her to explore a variety of meditation forms and peaceful communication styles. She studied with Dr. Deepak Chopra, which led to certification as a Primordial Sound Meditation Teacher. She studied with Marshall Rosenberg and taught Non-Violent Communication classes in Saskatoon. She holds a B.A. Honours Degree in Philosophy and a Masters of Education Degree. She brings her rich background of personal experience and training to her book, "Dancing In The Garden Of The Lotus Sutra". May you benefit from her many insights and suggestions.
