Since birth, Kit Mallory (Mallory Kit) has been a child of two worlds. As the prophesied offspring of an empiric queen and the figurehead of a rebel alliance, she was supposed to heal the wounds of a centuries-old political feud.

As the carrier of a nearly perfect genome, it is her duty and honor to give birth to a child with superior genetic potential. This miraculous event will allow the Coalition and the empire to make significant strides toward curing diseases that still plague humanity.

Unfortunately, years of being treated like a petri dish have left Kit a little numb to the grandiose nature of her purpose. Torn between her commitment to uphold a thousand-year-old prophecy and her overwhelming desire to be free from her sheltered existence and its obligatory breeding requirements, Kit decides to run away.

After acquiring an outdated cargo ship, which still contains its legally dead captain, Kit escapes to the stars. With more than a few rewards attached to her likeness, she must keep a low profile and rely on her misfit crew to keep her ramshackle ship in working order.

As the years pass, Kit is almost disappointed by her reduced encounters with bounty hunters. Little does she know, the Coalition will never give up trying to retrieve her. It only takes one misstep to find herself face-to-face with her former bodyguard and the embodiment of her lingering teenage crush. Their game of cat and mouse is finally over.

It's time for Kit to accept her destiny.
