Double-UU's Wonderful Waves

Double-UU's Wonderful Waves teaches children how to wave their lips to make the /w/ sound. First examine his name. What does double mean? What does letter U look like? When you double letter U, what new letter does it look like? Write the 2 U's close together on a white board and show how it becomes a W. Then have the children watch your lips wave open-closed-open as you make this sound. This book explores where water comes from and the patterns of waves that form as rain falls into a waterfall. Talk about the water cycle, and how the water runs into rivers and lakes, where it evaporates back into the clouds. Draw and write about these events and add these pages to your child's book.
