Dracula

A solicitor's clerk travels to the Carpathians on business and finds that his client does not keep ordinary hours. Stoker assembled the book out of letters, diary entries, ship's logs and newspaper cuttings, so that the horror arrives as evidence rather than narration. He worked on it for seven years while managing London's Lyceum Theatre, and did not live to see what it would become.
