Publisher Description

Of all the parks in Britain, few can compete with Holyrood Park for grandeur and natural beauty. Embraced within its five miles circuit are mountains, cliffs, lochs, glens, moorlands, marshes, ancient fields and romantic ruins and these between them, hold such a variety of plant life and animal life, that most of the Park has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Arthur’s Seat the majestic summit rises to a height of 823 ft./251m.

There are five walks in a circular tour of the perimeter and six climbs to the summit of Arthur’s Seat given here, which give almost complete coverage of the Park and provide a good variety of excursions to choose from. There are also many historical events and traditional tales recalled that will add interest to your experience as you walk or climb.

First published as a print edition in 1987, Gordon Wright has carefully examined all the changes that have taken place since then and produced a new series of photographs to illustrate the scenery as it is today.

Holyrood Park is a great experience for everyone. Enjoy every minute of it.
