Emily Jane Brontë and Her Music

The word ‘music’ is regularly used in literary analyses of the Brontë sisters’ writings, particularly as regards its rhythmic structure or metre.  

It is known that music played an important and enjoyable role in the siblings’ lives, but did this enjoyment of music have any effect on their creative input?

Emily was beyond doubt, the most musically accomplished of the surviving Brontë children, and Part One of this book assesses her knowledge and love of music, the part it played in her life, and the influence it might have had upon her literary creativity. Part Two contains an analysis or description of every single music score known to have been owned by the Brontë family.
