Ernie the Easter Hippopotamus

Ernie the Easter Hippopotamus is a wildly comical tale of a young hippopotamus with a very special talent ─ to make brightly colored, "naturally hard-boiled," eggs. This gets him into big trouble with the other hippopotamuses, and he is forced to leave his African river home on a journey that bring him eventually to America, where he happily becomes the “Easter Hippopotamus,” and continues making eggs for little girls and boys. The book is longer than most children's picture books, with a profusely illustrated story of 50 pages, plus a five-page note about real hippopotamuses. It is intended both for young readers 6 to 8, and as a read-to book for younger children from age 3 to 5.
