The web of lies she’s forced to weave could destroy them both…
FBI Special Agent Elizabeth Ward did her job, and did it well. Her undercover work brought down a mobster’s empire. Her reward? A bullseye on her back, betrayal burning like battery acid in her veins, and a life on the run.
A remote Montana ranch was supposed to be a safe haven to begin reclaiming her life. Which doesn’t include a man as solid as a mountain, with sapphire eyes and a slow, sexy drawl that curls inside her in a way she hasn’t felt in far too long.
Nat Sullivan smells trouble coming in the Triple H’s cold mountain air. And this time it’s not the repo men sneaking in to take his prized horses. It’s a beautiful woman with wide eyes, dark hair, and skin pale as snow.
Together, the damaged agent and struggling rancher find common ground…and a healing passion neither expected. But when a killer with a lust for revenge tracks Elizabeth down, the secrets she must unleash to survive could destroy everything they both love…

A solid piece of work - Loved it!
In the course of a successful undercover investigation, FBI Special Agent Elizabeth Ward set up a mobster and paid the ultimate price for the mobster's downfall. Her colleagues have betrayed her in the worst possible way, her professional and private life is destroyed. Now she is a high-value target for every organized-crime family in the US. On the run for her life, she arrives at the Tripple H Farm, where she meets Nat Sullivan, who has given up a promising career as a wildlife photographer to save the family ranch. At the brink of bankruptcy and up to his neck in backbreaking work, Nat doesn't know what to do with the mysterious holiday guest, who appears deep in the night on his doorstep. What he definitely knows is the undeniable attraction he feels towards the beautiful woman. Not that Elizabeth doesn't feel the pull as well but she knows that she's running out of time and that evil will follow her to this peaceful place.
There was plenty of background information on Nat and Elizabeth, which allowed them to appear three-dimensional and multilayered. The heroine is deeply disappointed from her life that extends to only negative experiences, she has become a mistrusting, bitter and lonely person, who doesn't know anymore how to appreciate the beautiful things and feelings in her life. Nat on the other hand, had his own daemons to fight - more "simple" ones but nevertheless seemingly also insurmountable. These emotional struggles unraveled against the backdrop of a beautifully and masterly crafted atmosphere that supported the plot perfectly.
The story line started with a bang and never faltered throughout the book. Different twists and turns kept me at the edge of my seat and riveted to the story. The plot by itself was thought through thouroughly and well elaborated. Some minor "fine tuning" might have added a bit more depth and maturity to the book. However, for a debut novel this was a solid piece of work!
If you liked this atmospheric style of writing, check out Toni Anderson's "Cold Justice" series. Absolutely recommendable!
