Jacob: An Immigrants Story

Long forgotten are the immigrants who played a roll in making Chicago the great city it became. Jacob Schoenewald was a German who fled one war and political upheaval only to be embroiled in another in the United States. But with positive determination, he rose up to become Chicago's first German immigrant Constable, Police Sergeant and Justice of the Peace. Yet his contributions have been overlooked and forgotten with time. This book shares his experiences of growing up in his homeland and determination to make a better life in America while making a difference for his fellow immigrants in Chicago.
