Publisher Description

Deep in the forest lives a kind of bug called a katydid. Katydids don't cause much trouble or get into fights with other bugs. They mostly just eat leaves, occasionally sing to each other and hide from pretty much everybody else.

Hiding is in fact so important to katydids that their bodies have come to resemble leaves allowing them to blend in to the forest around them and go unnoticed.

Most katydids are born the same exact green as the leaves around them, but every once in a while a katydid is born a very pretty and out-of-place shade of pink.

Katie is one such katydid. And although Katie truly is a very pretty bug, in a forest where katydids survive by not being noticed, she stands out.

Katie and the Flowers is a picture book for all ages about a bug who tries to make the world a better place.

After the story is over you can learn more about the insects and flowers featured in the book with the included series of illustrated science notes.
