Life on the Mississippi

Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain is a memoir of his days as a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River before the American Civil War. Like Twain’s The Innocents Abroad, it is also a travel writing account of Twain’s trip along the Mississippi River from St. Louis to New Orleans years after the war.


Life on the Mississippi is one of Mark Twain’s classic works like The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Roughing It, Pudd’nhead Wilson, and The Autobiography of Mark Twain.
