Publisher Description

In 1819 the PETERLOO massacre took place in the centre of Manchester. Alongside the beginning of industrial revolution, several changes began to evolve, Manchester Guardian newspaper was started up because events that happened that day were being covered up, Chartism movement was founded in 1836 which led to trade unions organisation, and radicals started fighting for just working conditions and equal rights for women.

I have tried to highlight four people who carried on that fight at the beginning of the last century and all were born in Manchester.
