Memorializing the Holocaust

In 2010 the Atlantic City Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial, a non-profit organization, sponsored an international design competition in order to choose a winning memorial to be built amidst the Atlantic City boardwalk and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The response was enormous. Over 700 designs were submitted from 38 countries around the world. The quality of the submissions was outstanding. A blue ribbon panel of the world’s most renowned jurors reviewed each and every submission and, during a diligent year long process, announced the winner. The entire selection process will astound, inspire and amaze. 



“Memorializing the Holocaust" is nothing less than the complete catalog of every submission, every design, every stage of the competition process. It is sure to become a valuable resource for architects, city planners, competition organizers, and holocaust memorializers. But most of all it is a beautiful and evocative tribute to the victims and survivors of Holocausts, not only in the fading past but in our own time as well.
