Nero (37 – 68 A.D.) is one of the most infamous Emperors of Rome, ascending to the throne in 54 A.D. after the death of his great-uncle Claudius. He ordered the murder of his mother Agrippina in 59 A.D., and is rumored to have played the lyre in costume while Rome burned in 64 A.D. In 69 A.D. Galba , governor of Hispania Tarraconensis, rose to power and the Senate declared Nero a public enemy. He committed suicide on June 9th, 68 A.D.
