Of Gardens

Written by famous philosopher, statesman and essayist Francis Bacon, Of Gardens was originally published around 1625. Detailing the feelings provoked by a great garden, Bacon's essay describes flower, vegetable, fruit and landscape gardens. One of Bacon's biographers, Hepworth Dixon, once wrote that two of the essayist's favorite pastimes were eating a good meal and enjoying a beautiful garden.
