Publisher Description
After the Civil War, Harriet Beecher Stowe and her husband bought a house and property in Mandarin, Florida, then on the outskirts of Jacksonville on the St. Johns River. The cottage became Beecher Stowe's refuge, and she would winter there for most of the next 20 years. Originally published in 1873, this volume is both a memoir and a travel guide to the area and is responsible for helping to boost tourism to Florida, which at the time was still relatively undeveloped.
This book was created from a scan of the original artifact, and as such the text of the book is not selectable or searchable.
