Publisher Description

The Great Gatsby is a novel written by American author of novels and short stories Francis Scott Fitzgerald in 1925.

The characters of the novel live in a fictional town of West Egg situated on Long Island in 1922. The story is primarily about enigmatic millionaire Jay Gatsby and his overwhelming passion and obsession for the beautiful girl Daisy Buchanan. It is considered to be Fitzgerald’s greatest work.

Fitzgerald was inspired to write The Great Gatsby while attending parties on Long Island and began planning the novel in 1923. He described it as “something new – something extraordinary and beautiful and simple and intricately patterned”

Nowadays, The Great Gatsby is widely considered to be a literary classic and a contender for the title Great American Novel.
