During Emmy's inquiry, she discovers $300,000 squirreled away in Allison's attic and learns she was trying to escape her abusive marriage to Bill Garrison, scion of one of the most respected families in North Falls. Bill swears he's innocent, though his alibi is shaky. The evidence also points to other suspects including Allison's violent ex, her former DEA colleagues, and a local drug lord.
