Publisher Description

After years of searching, Jewell Starsinger found the answers she was looking for. As a child of the modern world she suffered from dietary allergies and intolerances that were never diagnosed, but through her desire to feel better she learned more and more over the years about diets and their effect upon the body. There was always the problem of weight gain. In the seventies she struggled with that and became Macrobiotic, bulimic and anorexic all at once, out in the wilds of Southern Colorado.
The migraine headaches persisted along with the womans troubles so she persisted with new diets, like all protein, bananas, grapefruit and the ever fun vegan diet. Nothing made a difference in the core symptoms. Jewell felt healthier, but she was still enduring three migraines per month. Thats a lot of disruption, time-wise, and in those days she didnt know about the pharmaceutical drugs that help, so she was alone in the dark for three days for each incident.
Jewell kept going because she knew it was in the food. She knew it in her bones. It had to be something hidden or a strange combination of unexpected ingredients. The big reveal came when she was fifty years old. An out of the way publication came across her desk and she learned about Celiac, or gluten intolerance and she never looked back. Her life long nemesis was sent into the abyss and she began to enjoy the freedom from pain that most people take for granted. Jewell has devised recipes and anecdotes to help you adjust your diet to your own needs. Not everyone has Celiac, but if you have chronic health problems, they could come from something you eat every day that seems quite innocent.
The Tao of Chow is Jewells turn at giving back. She has had so many wonderful teachers and chefs over the years to help her along the path to pain free living. The recipes are easy and quick to prepare. She wants you to know that she had not yet discovered Balsamic Vinegar Reduction in those days and you should really try it.
