Don't Raise A Munchkin‪!‬

Like Dorothy in the Land of Oz, children today can get lost and they need help getting back on the right road. They get lost in world of peer pressure, in one of emotional confusion, in school, and sometimes in a virtual world of games right in their own home. This parenting book explains why children get lost, and it helps parents do something about it. The premise of our parenting book is that your child has a special gift that develops into the “True Self” and this leads to happiness. True Self is so important that we always capitalize it and discuss it in every chapter. 

“True Self” goes back to the ancient Greeks, “Know Thyself” and the expression was so important that the Greeks carved it above the main entrance of their temple. The idea of “Know Thyself” also runs through the philosophy of a wizard named Socrates. Even in Judeo-Christianity the idea of who your child really is, the True Self, is indeed present. “Before you were born I knew you,” and we might add in our own words, “had big plans for you too, kiddo.” The idea is clear; there is a True Self deep within your child that goes beyond what the world may call for or even offer. Rather exciting and a bit frightening at the same time. It is exciting because that is where the greatest happiness is found, and frightening because there are a thousand wicked witches that will tug your child away from True Self. Indeed, there is something wonderful and beautiful in your child, and a parent can help the child discover True Self as she grows into adulthood. And it will be a fun journey!
