Jane Austen is well-known as the beloved author of Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, Sanditon and other witty and romantic novels. What is less known is that Jane was a deeply religious person and was devoted to God. She wrote beautiful, heartfelt prayers to read to herself and with her family in the evenings.  For the first time you can read Jane's original prayer sheets in her neat handwriting that she wrote over 200 years ago

Emma Darlington explores the importance of Jane Austen's faith, the effect it had on her life and her novel writing, and how her upbringing surrounded by clergymen influenced the wonderful characters she wrote about in her novels.

About the Author

Emma Darlington wanted to be an explorer and live her life at sea, until she discovered that dusty old books, churches, and museums are generally found on land. She is passionate about Jane Austen, the Regency period, carriages, and corsets, and has written five non-fiction books on the subject including Jane Austen's Prayers, the first time Jane's handwritten prayers have appeared in print.

Emma loves to travel and is usually away on an adventure researching her next travel guide or mystery novel.  A digital nomad, Emma works in international communications and when on dry land, she spends a lot of time drinking tea in Jane Austen's village of Chawton, England.
