Net And Noose

The net that catches me is the exact same one that holds me.

Dedicated Child Protective Services caseworker Aven Sloane travels deep into an isolated Louisiana bayou to evaluate Corvin Thane, a convicted killer raising his young daughter completely off the grid. She expects a monster but finds a fiercely protective father. When a historic and devastating flood washes out the only road, Aven is trapped inside Corvin's stilt cabin with no cell signal and no escape. Cut off from the outside world for seventeen days, the rising brown waters mirror their undeniable tension. Stripped of her professional armor, Aven discovers the illiterate yet profoundly tender man beneath the criminal record. As the floodwaters eventually recede, Aven must make a life altering choice: return to the safety of a flawed system, or risk everything for a man the world has already condemned.
