The Council of the Moon is suddenly very interested in Nevia and her radical, anti-matriarch views. When a werewolf coup erupts, Daniel finds himself caught squarely in the crossfire. Forced to choose a side, he takes action-but killing Frederique's men only fans the flames of council retaliation.

With danger closing in, Daniel flees to his childhood home in Ireland, bringing Cori and Nevia with him. It's a desperate move to keep them safe-but it also means introducing Nevia to his mother, right in the middle of their already tense, undefined relationship.
