Descripción editorial

In his latest monograph, Alexander Coster Scott characteristically blurs the boundaries between genres, combining seemingly disparate elements in a unified and sustained meditative photographic exploration. Here, Scott contrasts the natural with the artificial, intimacy with remove, utopian promise with a sense of megapolitan isolation–a series of dualities that ultimately point to broader questions of being.

Scott's work has appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers, including Wallpaper*, Monocle, Elle Decor, Artforum, the Boston Globe, and the New York Times, and his work has been exhibited in cities throughout the world, including Boston, New York, Stockholm, and Tokyo.

“Scott goes back to the future in his work, or maybe forward to the past.”
- Cate McQuaid, The Boston Globe

“His rigorous, spare and poetic images are a collision of light and shape.”
- Ann Marie Gardner, Monocle Magazine

“Scott’s relaxed environment evokes the elegance and dynamics of Space-age pop…”
- Christoph Grunenberg, Director of the Kunsthalle Bremen (former Director of the Tate Liverpool).

Coster Scott: Survey I (2014 digital edition) is a collection of 86 color photographs depicting corporate, institutional, domestic, and natural subjects with a tonal palette and wide aspect Ultra Panavision style frame made primarily with a Hasselblad XPan film camera. A hardback print edition is also available from Fahnestock Press.
