With the discovery of a family friend's body on display in a park, a rookie detective discovers a terrifying pattern. She knows one thing for certain. More women will die, if she can't get others to see it too. 

Tanvi Nightingale may be a rookie but her instincts are spot on. A serial killer is terrorizing Indianapolis. Her boss however, can't see the connections even as Tanvi falls down the rabbit hole. While Frank sees more than enough evidence to warrant a full investigation, his contact at the BAU remains unconvinced. Instead of a team, she  sends in a hothead she thinks can benefit from time under Frank's tutelage. A Boston Native, Lucas McGinn is used to getting under people's skin. You could even say it's his calling. But with Tanvi it's different. She's getting under his. And it has a tendency to bring out the worst in him.

Despite their unspoken attraction, Tanvi and Lucas are like oil and water. It's all Frank can do to keep the pair working together. As more women go missing and existing cases connected to theirs, the clues get harder, rather than easier, to read. 

With the capture of a suspect, who all but confesses, Tanvi thinks this case is over. Until  executing a routine warrant leaves Lucas and Tanvi trapped in an underground tomb. In the time it takes Frank to free them a kiss changes everything. Lucas and Tanvi quickly realize they're just pawns in his sick game and the end is nowhere in sight. 

Desperate to keep Tanvi and her family safe, Lucas will do anything to put the killers behind bars. But they have only just started playing with their new toys. Unbeknownst to the couple, the more involved they get romantically, the angier their adversary becomes.
