Hawke's ma and pa never liked to talk about his kid brother.

The child who was born and then disappeared into the mountains their people have called home for generations.

The problem with childhood is, it all happened so long ago.

But now Hawke's a grown man, entrusted with the health and sanity of his fellow human beings.

He's old enough to know the truth about where babies come from.

Some come from heaven. And some are a precious gift from hell.
