Descripción editorial
What does learner autonomy look like in practice across different educational contexts? Learner Autonomy Across Contexts brings together experienced teachers, teacher educators and researchers to explore how learners can be supported in taking greater responsibility for their language learning. Drawing on work in schools, vocational education, universities and teacher education, the contributors offer practical examples and critical reflections on learner agency, reflective writing and logbooks, target-language use, inclusion, well-being, plurilingual education, self-assessment and the CEFR.
Combining classroom experience, ongoing research, personal narratives and perspectives on wider developments in European language education, the volume shows that there is no single route to learner autonomy. Instead, autonomy emerges through practices adapted to particular learners, purposes and educational settings. Originating in the Sixteenth Nordic Workshop on Language Learner Autonomy in Graz, this collection continues a tradition of international exchange stretching back to 1986 while looking firmly towards the challenges and possibilities facing language education today.
