Descripción editorial

Companies spend millions of dollars annually on management training, yet far too many managers remain ineffective. So, where is the disconnect? It seems management training focuses on “what to do” rather than “how to think”. This is akin to the old adage about giving someone a fish, versus teaching them how to fish.

“Manage Like Your Momma” is a business fable that demonstrates how a simple shift in mindset can have a profound effect on manager behaviors. It moves beyond Management 101 training, and into the arena of self-coaching. If you’re a fan of “Who Moved My Cheese?” or “The One-Minute Manager”, you will thoroughly enjoy this book.

About the Author

A global consultant and former executive, Denise Champagne spent her career helping leaders become better managers. Over time, she found that training and experience didn’t explain why some managers consistently performed better than others. However, mindset did. Denise has since used this insight to successfully coach hundreds of managers. The “magical mindset” Denise discovered is the subject of her book, Manage Like Your Momma.

Denise has an M.A. in industrial organizational psychology and endured the corporate grind for twenty-five years before becoming a consultant. She’s been cited in Personnel Psychology, Corporate Executive Board, Human Resource Executive, and Workspan. She’s been a frequent guest speaker at the Conference Board’s Performance Management Seminars and Annual Talent Management Strategies Conference. Her work with one company earned it spots on Fortune’s “Top 25 World’s Best Multinational Workplaces”, “Achievers’ 50 Most Engaged Workplaces”, and Chief Executive magazine’s “40 Best Companies for Leaders”.

Denise lives in Naples, FL, with her handsome husband and quirky rescue dogs. She enjoys landscaping, home design, and hunting Bufo toads. She’s also a self-proclaimed Sudoku champion, and loves all kinds of puzzles and brainteasers.
