Mo Yan's Diary

With the realm newly pacified, all things lay in ruins awaiting revival. Beyond Luoyang's city walls, amidst misty willows and deep peach blossoms, several small bamboo pavilions suddenly appeared, surrounded by courtyards and dwellings. They were called the Mo Yan Pavilion. Beyond serving wine and vegetarian meals, the Mo Yan Pavilion also offered lodging. For merchants and those stranded outside the city due to closed gates, it proved an immense convenience. Remarkably, Moyan Pavilion not only served exquisite cuisine with fragrant teas and crisp wines but also maintained a clean, elegant atmosphere at fair prices. Over time, its reputation grew, attracting even residents from within Luoyang City. Yet, Moyan Pavilion held three peculiarities: First, no one had ever seen its owner. Second, the staff never spoke beyond taking orders. Third, the menu featured an invaluable dish called Mo Yan's Vegetarian Meal, written in tiny print at the very bottom. Whenever curious patrons inquired, the staff merely smiled and explained it was rarely available, hence its inconspicuous placement. Over time, people grew less curious and stopped asking.
