Master Sergeant Tristan Michaels, USMC, is on temporary assignment to the Mountain Warfare Training Center in a remote location in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, teaching Marines how to survive in cold weather. When one of his students is found dead in what looks like a friendly fire accident, newly promoted NCIS Special Agent Amber Dalton, must postpone her planned leave to the white hot beaches of Aruba to investigate. Although her boss tells her it’s a 24-hour job, Amber has reason to believe that the dead Marine was murdered. She soon discovers that someone doesn’t want her to find out the truth and tries to end her snooping—permanently. As she investigates, the sexy and smart Master Sergeant Michaels is not only distracting, but a stalwart presence in what becomes a harrowing fight for survival in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
