Sir Gawayne and the Green Knight

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, translated by J.R.R. Tolkien, is a classic Arthurian tale of chivalry, honor, and temptation. The story begins when a mysterious Green Knight appears at King Arthur’s court, challenging any knight to strike him with an axe—on the condition that the challenger accept a return blow in a year and a day.
