Stations of the Cross (Neumarkt - Mariahilfberg‪)‬

It's an ancient tradition among the Christians, especially in Catholic and Anglican domains, to celebrate the Stations of the Cross, also Way of the Cross or simply The Cross especially in the Holy Week and Good Friday.

If You search in the internet for these terms (Google, Wikipedia etc.), You'll read that there are some differences within this celebrations. The pictures are engraved in red brass plates with corresponding German text. The stations were erected in 1847, the last renovation was in 1931, where the pictures were elaborated by Josef Amberg (1900 - 1976), a goldsmith in Würzburg. Josef Amberg has written the word of Jesus as a YESUS with "Y" instead of "J" (same pronunciation in German).
