The cabin

Written in 1898, The cabin is a short novel that tells the story of a colony of Valencia farmers. The conflict begins when Batiste Borrul and his family come to the land of Uncle Barret in order to work there. This arrival is unwelcome to the other peasants, encouraged by Pimento, all demonstrate their hostility and will make life difficult for newcomers. The cabin is a raw novel that spares no scenes of cruelty and exploitation and count hard life of Spanish peasants in the twilight of the nineteenth century.
