Using Explain Everything as an Interactive Whiteboard

The ‘Interactive Whiteboard’ is widely used by educators as a way to interact with digital content on a large touch-sensitive display. However, they are not without their problems: older models were not reliably accurate, modern ones still remain expensive to buy, and all have a tendency to tie the teacher to the front of the class.

This book aims to demonstrate how AirPlay technology and the Explain Everything app can turn the interactive surface of iPad into an interactive whiteboard. I will tell the story of how and why we made the switch in my school, give some tips and tricks on using Explain Everything in this way, and explore some of the benefits: freeing up teachers to teach from anywhere in the classroom, as well as opening up new possibilities for collaboration and engagement.
