Using iPad to Build Background Knowledge
Descripción editorial
Videos are an excellent way to build background knowledge as they paint a picture in the students’ minds. They can help readers experience concepts, ideas, and vocabulary so that readers can leverage visual, syntactical, and contextual information (all cuing systems) when navigating complex texts. The example shared in this book is from my social studies classroom, and students use iPad, the app Book Creator, and a video found online to create a class project. The activity could be replicated at any grade level with any video appropriate for your curriculum.
