This magisterial study of the book in Ireland, which is also a history of publishing in this country, is a well-conceived and beautifully illustrated publication. The three editors are internationally renowned Irish Studies experts and so it is not surprising that they managed to bring together other scholars, writers, and people involved in the publishing industry to trace the development of the Irish book down through the centuries.
