Our Neighbourhood Stand

This book, Our Neighbourhood Stand, is a characteristic journey for communities all over. It is inspired by the education deprived and dangerous way of life for many living in so-called clusters, townships and shacks. It has been simplified to inform, reform and revive social ethics and character development.

About the author

Fadiel Van Vuuren was born and raised by the neighbourhoods on the Cape Flats. The Cape Flats where gunshots are as normal as youngsters hip-hop and rap music, where a woman screaming for help while being raped is as normal as a cheering crowd at a neighbourhood fighting brawl, where adults and kids instinctively fall to the ground when shots are fired then get up and move on as soon as they get a chance. Fadiel was educated by the positive good, the negative bad and the evil ugly which caused him to graduate from all walks of life-in his neighbourhood. Inspired by and taking note of how much one can learn and benefit from one’s own condition and surroundings, motivated him to voluntarily teach in his community regarding the needs and way of life on the Cape Flats.
