Swami Hariharananda Bharati, affectionately known as 'Swami Hari', grew up in the foothills of the Himalayas. After becoming a monk he spent 15 years living and meditating in the mountain forests. Much of that time he spent at the 600-year old sacred shrine of Tarkeshwar in the Himalayas. Swami Hari was a charismatic forest monk in the 5,000-year-old tradition of Himalayan sages and also a direct disciple of the legendary Swami Rama. As a teacher, he was known for his ability to guide students into states of deep meditation. His lectures were filled with practical knowledge, inspiration, and humor. Swami Hari's friendly, cheerful and compassionate personality attracted to him friends in many countries from across the globe. Swami Hari left his body in June 2008, leaving behind countless students and friends, as well as a new school for basic children's education and adult vocational studies.
