The conflicts, jealousies and friendship politics that afflict teenage girls can be terrifying. And so it makes a great backdrop for a psychological thriller. High school queen bee Tasha wants to unravel the truth around her near-death. To do so, she needs to win back her jilted former best friend Becca and remove herself from the shackles of her potentially poisonous, newer “BFFs”. We loved this intoxicating read, especially its shocking plot twists and complex, three-dimensional characters.

As the police try to piece together what happened, Natasha, harboring suspicions about her closest friends, launches her own investigation with the help of former friend Becca, who she abandoned during an ascent into popularity. Third-person chapters focus on Becca, and readers' see Natasha's thoughts, reactions, and nagging suspicions through excerpts from a journal. Text message exchanges, news reports, and interviews between Becca and her therapist further flesh out a multilayered narrative, filling in the gaps in Natasha's memory.
